The Records Unit of the Support Services Division is staffed with four
Criminal Records Technicians. The Records Technicians provide a wide
range of functions including:
- Live Scan transmissions to the California Department of Justice
- Applicant fingerprinting
- Megan’s Law viewing
- Parade permits in County jurisdiction
- Solicitor permits in County jurisdiction
- Explosive permits
- Concealed weapons permits in Sutter County
- Maintenance of agency reports and records including court mandated functions
- Process record release requests
- Process criminal offender registration such as narcotics/sex/arson and gang registrants
- Order and stock agency supplies and forms
- Compile monthly statistical reports for the Department of Justice Uniform Crime Reporting
- Provide information to citizens either by the public counter or by telephone
- Maintain and provide information regarding towed vehicles
- Maintain information regarding the Offender Watch program
The Records Unit is open to the public during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday). The office is closed between 12 p.m.
to 1 p.m. for the lunch hour. Information may be requested by calling our

Service and Fee Schedules:
All services are available during normal business hours. Please allow 15
minutes per person for fingerprinting and registration processing. The records
unit will accept cash or check only as payment for services.
Fingerprinting-Live Scan and Applicant Cards:
- $25.00 per transmission
- Background fees vary and are not included in the Livescan fee
- Individuals should telephone the office to determine the type and fee schedule for the appropriate background check before arriving at the Sheriff’s Department
Criminal Offender Registration:
- No fee is charged
Report Copies:
- $0.50 per page
- Photo identification required
- Record releases are made within ten days of request
