Suspect in Criminal Threats Case Turns Self In.

SUSPECT IN CUSTODY
CARNEY, JEFFERY THOMAS WMA- 28 years old 6’1” 190 lbs Brown eyes, short brown hair On 04/19/2007 at approximately 9:30 pm, suspect Jeffery Thomas Carney turned himself into authorities at the Sutter County Jail in Yuba City. Carney was accompanied by his attorney and the attorney’s investigator. Sheriff’s investigators were alerted to the pending surrender by suspect Carney’s parents. Carney’s surrender came on the heels of an intensive investigation conducted by the combined agencies of the Sutter County Sheriff’, Yuba County Sheriff, Yuba City Police, Marysville Police, Wheatland Police, Net-5 Narcotics team, Placer County Sheriff Special Investigation Unit, California Highway Patrol, California Department of Justice, and the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) division of the Federal Government. A great amount of cooperation was also provided by the school districts of both Sutter and Yuba Counties. Carney has declined giving any statement at this time and had been evaluated by jail medical staff. Sheriff Jim Denney conducted a press conference at 10:30 PM officially notifying the media and public that this threat had ended. Suspect Carney is being held at the jail at this time for felony violation of making Criminal Threats and committing a felony while out on bail. His bail on previous charges occurring over the past two months was also expected to be revoked. An enhanced bail or no bail booking is being sought by the Sheriff’s Department at this time.
