FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, August 03, 2005, 4:30 P.M. SUBJECT: Sutter County Sheriff’s Detectives investigate shooting incident TEXT: At approximately 1:40 P.M. today, the Yuba City Police Department notified the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department of a possible shooting incident that occurred on SR99 near the area of Lomo Crossing. The investigation by Sheriff’s Detectives determined that the incident occurred in the area south of Lomo Crossing on SR 99 at approximately 1:30 pm today. The information is sketchy at this point but Detectives learned that the victim’s vehicle was southbound from Lomo Crossing on SR 99 when a burgundy pick up truck pulled along side it as the roadway went from two lanes to four. There was some type of attempt by the driver of the truck to get the victims’ vehicle to pull over. Shortly thereafter, a shot was heard and the victim (26yr old female) was struck in the left shoulder area. The medical condition of the female is not confirmed at this time. The male driver of the victim’s vehicle was not injured. Information developed at this time indicated that there may have been at least two persons in the truck. The truck was last seen taking the Eager Road exit. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department Detective Division at 530-822-7307.
