SUBJECT:
Sutter County Sheriff’s Department Dedicates New Vehicle for Public
Safety Emergencies
TEXT:
Sheriff Jim Denney and his staff
will be dedicating a new tool to assist in responding to natural and
man made emergencies in Sutter County. The Sheriff’s Department
recently acquired a forty-foot long, mobile command post to aid the
Department in managing long –term emergencies in the field.
The vehicle provides the Department
the ability to dispatch and coordinate Deputies in the field as well
as provide a mobile incident command center to plan, strategize and
stage law enforcement responses.
Some of the high-technology
associated with the vehicle includes a radio interoperability system
allowing radio communications during mutual aid circumstances with a
wide number of agencies and a helicopter video down-link system.
The down-link system is still under construction, but will enable an
equipped helicopter from other agencies such as the California
Highway Patrol or the Sacramento Police or Sheriff’s Department to
send video of an event or natural disaster back to the command
vehicle.
The vehicle also has several means
of recording images both from the down-link system, on-board camera
system, or television broadcast.
The mobile command post will be
featured at an open house scheduled for May 25, 2005 at 10 am at the
Sheriff’s Department.
