SUBJECT:

22nd ANNUAL NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

TEXT:

Sheriff Jim Denney invites all Sutter County residents to join the men and women of the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department in participating in the “22nd Annual National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2005.

National Night Out is “America’s Night Out Against Crime”.  National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and is co-sponsored by the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department.  Communities from all 50 states, U.S. Territories, Canadian Cities and military bases around the world will participate in this event.  Millions of people are expected to participate in this year’s Night Out Against Crime.

National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug awareness.
  • Generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts.
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on August 2rd, residents in neighborhoods throughout Sutter County, and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and law enforcement.  Many neighbors throughout Sutter County will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, neighborhood strolls and youth activities.

Members of the Sheriff’s Command Staff, S.E.D. team, Bike Patrol, K-9 Unit, Swift Water Rescue and Patrol division will be visiting the various neighborhoods during this event.  Please join the men and women of the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department in this night out.  You can pledge your support and participation by completing a National Night Out Participation Pledge Form and returning it by July 27th, 2005.  The Forms are available at the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department at 1077 Civic Center Boulevard, Yuba City or on the Sheriff’s Department web site at www.suttersheriff.org

Contact Sergeant Don Darrough at 822-7307 for additional information.
