SUBJECT:
Sheriff’s Deputies investigate home
invasion robbery
TEXT:
Deputies were dispatched to a mobile
home behind a residence in the 1000 block of Township Road, Yuba City
at approximately 2 a.m. this morning. An elderly female resident of
the mobile home claimed to be the victim of a residential robbery.
The victim told deputies that the suspect demanded money and jewelry
while instructing her not to look at him. After ransacking several
rooms in the residence, the suspect cut the telephone lines and fled.
The victim heard a vehicle start up and leave and notified her
ex-husband who telephoned authorities. On arrival, deputies learned
that the victim’s vehicle had been stolen during the incident and
located it unoccupied, approximately ½ mile away. A search of the
area was unsuccessful. The investigation is continuing by Sheriff’s
Detectives. If the public has any information on this incident they
are urged to call the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department Detective
Division at (530) 822-7313.
The Sheriff’s Department would like to
remind citizens to be cautious when answering their doors at night
time. They should always ask the person to identify themselves before
deciding to open the door, and never without turning on the lights to
aid in confirming who is knocking on the door. If there is any
concern, residents are urged to call their local law enforcement
agency to investigate.
