SUBJECT:
Suspicious Circumstances - Found Body
TEXT:
Sutter County Sheriff's Detectives are investigating the
discovery of a human body in a rice field located in the Sutter By-Pass, near the 5900 block
of Obanion Road, south of Yuba City. The body was discovered on Saturday, November 26, 2005
by caretakers for a local duck club. Responding deputies found the badly decomposed body
lying next to a rice check in the Sutter By-Pass and appeared to have been there for
some time. Based on the injuries visible, the body appeared to have been run over by a farming
implement, most likely a disc. Detectives learned that the field was last disked in April or
May of 2005, but was not planted due to high spring run-off.
An autopsy was conducted on the remains on Monday,
November 28, 2005. Due to the decomposed state of the body, no immediate cause of death was
determined at this time. The autopsy did reveal that the body was that of a Caucasian adult
male, with a gold cap on a right molar tooth. Further examination identified the deceased
also suffered from some type of degenerative spinal injury, and had a prosthesis
(knee replacement) of the left knee.
Sheriff's Detectives are asking anyone with knowledge
of this incident or the possible identity of the deceased to telephone the Sutter County
Sheriff's Detective Division at 530-822-7313.
There will be no additional scheduled
releases on this incident.
