FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 24, 2004, 9:30am Subject: Sutter County Sheriff’s Department conducts Tobacco Sting Sutter County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted by underage Sheriff’s Cadets conducted a tobacco decoy operation at seventeen businesses in Sutter County. The sting operation led to the arrest of two clerks on charges of selling tobacco products to a minor. The were identified as: Barbara Ann Alvarado, 57, of Live Oak, a clerk at King’s Market, 10153 Live Oak Boulevard, Live Oak. The second arrest was Gurjit Singh, 22, of Live Oak, a clerk at Petro Star Food Mart, 9545 Live Oak Boulevard, Live Oak. Both were cited and released. The other fifteen businesses and their clerks should be commended for refusing to sell tobacco products to minors. Those businesses were identified as: Bootlegger Discount Liquor, and Video, 9915 Live Oak Boulevard, Live Oak Tiff’s Mini Mart, 9881 Live Oak Boulevard, Live Oak Bill’s Market and Deli, 1443 Franklin Road, Yuba City Quick Stop Market, 1285 Bogue Road, Yuba City Lincoln Market, 1197 Lincoln Road, Yuba City Mike’s Market, 1591 Franklin Road, Yuba City AM-PM Mini Market, 1332 Bogue Road, Yuba City 99 Discount Store, 10017 Live Oak Boulevard, Yuba City More-for-Less, 100020 Live Oak Boulevard, Yuba City Neighborhood Store, 4313 South George Washington Boulevard, Yuba City Super Stop Market, 2494 Archer Avenue, Live Oak Sunny’s Market, 9820 Broadway, Live Oak MG Liquor Market, 2920 Pennington Road, Live Oak Boone’s Mini Mart, 10375 Live Oak Boulevard, Live Oak Contact Person and Telephone Number: Bill Grove, Undersheriff: (530) 822-7307 |
