Identity of Live Oak Fatal Hit and Run Victim Determined

Text

The Sutter County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office has determined the identity of the decomposed male body found along State Route 99, north of the Live Oak City limits on August 11, 2004.

The victim is identified as Beatriz Molina-Castro AKA: Rufino Molina, age 35, of Mexico.  Molina-Castro was a farm laborer who had also resided in Porterville, California prior to coming to the Live Oak area to work in the harvest.  He was positively identified by his sister who arrived in Yuba City earlier today from Porterville.

Molina-Castro last spoke with his family in Porterville by telephone on July 14, 2004.  His co-workers in Live Oak stated they last saw Molina-Castro on July 25, 2004 in the Live Oak area.

Molina-Castro’s body was found in thick brush along the east side of SR99, just north of the Live Oak City limits.  An autopsy determined that Molina-Castro died of multiple injuries caused by high speed blunt force trauma.  His death is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) – Yuba/Sutter Office as a Felony Hit and Run accident.  Anyone with information concerning the collision is asked to contact the CHP office in Yuba City at (530) 674-5141.
