“Tip-a-Cop” fundraiser for Special Olympics

The
Sutter County Sheriff’s Department and Applebee’s Grill and Bar are
teaming together to raise funds for Special Olympics, Northern
California on Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at Applebee’s, 1000 Tharp Road,
Yuba City.
Sheriff
Jim Denney will lead a team of uniformed deputies serving as
“Celebrity Waiters” during the lunch hours of 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM, and
Patrol Commander, Captain J. Paul Parker will lead a second team of
deputies during the dinner hour from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Sheriff
and staff will be assisting the servers with water service, setting
and clearing tables, seating guests, etc.
Customers
will be asked to support Special Olympics by placing a special “tip”
in specially marked envelopes at their tables. Special Olympics
T-shirts will also be available for purchase at $15.00 each. The
proceeds from the sale of the shirts will also benefit Special
Olympics.
Special
Olympics provide year-round sports training and athletic competition
in a variety of Olympic-style sports for individuals with
developmental disabilities. In Northern California, more than 14,000
persons with disabilities participate in local, area and chapter-wide
competitions and are offered at no expense to all eligible athletes.
