SUBJECT:
Attempted Murder and
Assault With A Deadly Weapon
TEXT:
The Sutter County
Sheriff’s Department is investigating an Attempted Murder and an
Assault With a Deadly Weapon that occurred late Thursday evening in
the vicinity of Elm Street and K Street, in the City of Live Oak.
Shortly after 10:30pm
(4-17-03), a 911 call was received by the Sheriff’s Dispatchers
reporting a stabbing that occurred at the above location.
The victim later
identified as Thomas Gay Featherston Jr., age 29, of the 2200
block of Elm Street, Live Oak, was given medical aid and then
transported by ambulance to Rideout Hospital where he was listed in
stable condition.
Prior to being
transported to the hospital, Featherston was able to provide the name
of his attacker, identified as Kamaldeep Singh Bassi, age 19,
of the 9800 block of N Street, Live Oak.
Bassi reportedly left
the scene in a White Honda Accord, 4dr. CA LIC. 4RGM 413. An attempt
to locate was broadcasted for Bassi and the above mentioned vehicle to
all local law enforcement agencies.
Shortly before 0800
hours this morning, Sutter County Sheriff’s Department received
information that Bassi was at his residence.
Bassi was contacted
by the Sheriff’s Department personnel at his residence and he was
taken into custody without incident. He was transported and booked
into the Sutter County Jail, charging him with the above mentioned
charges.
No further
information will be available due to on-going investigation.
