The
Sutter County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an apparent
homicide that occurred in the south Sutter County area, near the
intersection of Powerline Road and Sankey Road.
At 1:55
PM, yesterday (Sunday), the Sheriff’s Department received a 911
transfer from the California Highway Patrol Dispatch Center, who
received a telephone call from a Rio Linda area fisherman reporting
finding a human body in a ditch near the above listed location.
Sheriff’s
deputies arrived on the scene and observed the victim to be a Hispanic
male, approximately 25 to 30-years old, 5-5 to 5-8, between 150 and
165 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The victim was wearing a
white T-shirt, blue denim pants, and white tube socks (no shoes). The
pants had a brown leather belt around the waist that contained a brown
leather belt buckle with the name “Jorge” on the front of the buckle.
The lettering on the buckle was white in color with white stitching.
The victim’s identity is unknown at this time.
The
victim appeared to have suffered blunt force trauma to the head. An
autopsy is scheduled for later this morning to determine the exact
cause of death.
Sheriff’s
investigators are handling the investigation into this homicide and
anyone with information concerning this case, including the victim’s
identity, is asked to contact the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department
at (530) 822-7307.
