Sheriff Jim Denney invites all Sutter County
residents to join the men and women of the Sutter County Sheriff’s
Department in participating in “19th Annual National Night Out”,
crime and drug prevention event, on Tuesday August 6th, 2002.
National Night Out is “America’s Night Out Against Crime”.
National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town
Watch (NATW) and is co-sponsored by the Sutter County Sheriff’s
Department. Over 9,700 communities from all 50 states, U.S.
Territories, Canadian Cities, and military bases around the world will
participate in this event. In all, over 33 million people are expected
to participate in this year’s Night Out Against Crime.
National Night Out is designed to:
Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime
efforts.
Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships.
Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are
organized and fighting back.
From 7 to 10 p.m. on August 6th, residents in neighborhoods
throughout Sutter County, and across the nation, are asked to lock
their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with
neighbors and law enforcement. Many neighbors throughout Sutter County
will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties,
cookouts, parades, neighborhood strolls, and youth activities.
Please join the men and women of the Sutter County Sheriff’s
Department in this event. You can pledge your support and
participation by completing a National Night Out Participation Pledge
Form and returning it by August 2nd, 2002. The Forms are available at
the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department at 1077 Civic Center Boulevard,
Yuba City. The Form is also available on the Sheriff’s Department Web
Page, www.suttersheriff.org.
