Sutter Deputies respond to shooting/barricaded suspect
Text:
Sutter County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a residence in the
1500 block of Oro Grande, Yuba City after receiving a call from a
male subject who claimed to have been shot by his wife. The call was
received shortly before 7 A.M. this morning. The line was
disconnected and attempts to reconnect to the residence were not
successful. The deputies secured the surrounding area and continued
attempts to make telephone contact with those inside the residence.
The Sutter County Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail and Hostage
Negotiators responded. Attempts continued to establish contact with
individuals in the residence but were unsuccessful.
SED personnel made a successful forced entry into the residence,
in a controlled rescue operation, locating a female subject who was
subsequently detained. A further search found a male subject
suffering what appeared to be a bullet wound to the back. No names
are being released at this time but the individuals are believed to
be husband and wife. Sheriff's Detectives are continuing the
investigation into the shooting. No arrests have been made at this
time. No other persons were injured in the incident. The injured
male was transported to Rideout Emergency Hospital for treatment. No
update on his condition is available from the Sheriff's Department.
