SUBJECT:
Sheriff's Detectives arrest Kidnap/Rape/Assault with a Deadly
Weapon
A female subject who wished to report she was the victim of a
kidnap/rape by her ex-boyfriend contacted the Sutter County
Sheriff's Department. Sheriff's Detectives took over the
investigation and interviewed the female. It was learned that the
alleged crimes occurred in a rural area of the Feather River
bottoms, in a makeshift encampment near the Oregon train trestle
(the Southern Pacific overdressing). Information provided by the
victim disclosed that the incidents began on the afternoon of April
30th, 2001. The female was an acquaintance of the suspect and wanted
to speak with him. The victim told detectives that during the
conversation, the suspect began to threaten her and physically
assault while questioning her. During this time the suspect also hit
the victim about the head, upper body, and legs with a large tree
branch. Over the next twenty-four hours the suspect allegedly
sexually assaulted, beat and tortured the victim. At one point the
victim was forced to lie in a shallow grave and told she would be
killed. The suspect accompanied the victim to a residence in south
Yuba City, where she was eventually able to gain her freedom and
escape.
Based on the information provided by the victim, Sutter County
Patrol Deputies and Detectives approached the makeshift camp and
located a white male. The male was taken into custody. He has been
identified as Brett Joseph Glassgow, WMA, 31 years old, transient.
Glassgow was charged with kidnapping, rape, and torture during a
kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment, .
He was also arrested on a no bail warrant charging violation of
probation from Yuba County.
The Sutter County Sheriff's Department is continuing its
investigation into this matter. There will be no additional media
release of this case at this time -END TEXT-
