Sheriff’s Department conducts Alcohol Shoulder Tap Operation
Text
The Sutter County Sheriff’s Department conducted a two-day Shoulder
Tap operation throughout Sutter County on Tuesday and Wednesday. The
Shoulder Tap Operation utilizes under-aged Sheriff’s Cadets who
contact individuals in front of stores where alcoholic beverages are
sold, and asks them to purchase alcohol for the undercover decoy.
A total of 28 people were contacted during the operation and only one
person purchased alcohol as requested. The remaining individuals
refused to do so and reported the attempt to the store clerks who
confronted the cadets and told them to leave the premises. Those
stores were:
Boones’s Mini Mart, 10375 Live Oak Blvd., Live Oak.
AM/PM Mini Mart, 1332 Bogue Road, Yuba City.
Chevron Mini Mart, 4228 Sawtelle Avenue, Yuba City.
Bill’s Market & Deli, 1443 Franklin Road, Yuba City.
Arrested in front of the Robbins Mercantile, 4895 Del Monte Avenue,
Robbins, was Dora Esquer Galindo, age 40, of Robbins. She was cited
for violation of Section 22658(a)(2) of the California Business and
Professions Code – furnishing alcohol to a minor, and released.
The Sheriff’s Department considers this operation to be an
overwhelming success and commends the citizens and store clerks for
their diligence in preventing alcohol from getting into the hands of
minors. Further Shoulder Tap Operations will be conducted on a
frequent basis to ensure compliance.
