The Sutter County Sheriff’s Department
continues to assist victims through traumatic events in their lives
by offering various programs and solutions to their problems. The
VOTE program is comprised of Deputies from the Sutter County
Sheriff’s Department, including the Live Oak Substation. Statistics
have shown that domestic violence and other traumatic events involve
a cycle of abuse and the offenses are often repeated until the cycle
is broken.
Deputies from the VOTE program work together
with other agencies such as the Yuba City Police Department, Sutter
County Probation Department and non-profit agencies to combat the
cycle of abuse. Deputies also conduct probation visits, assistance
to the victims, and actively seeking those with arrest warrants.
The Sutter County Sheriff’s Department and Jail
also offer the VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday)
Program. This service is a free and anonymous telephone service
that provides victims of crimes two important features: information
and notification. This service can be used by victims of crime,
domestic violence, family members interested in the custody status
of their family, and news media that are concerned as to the custody
status of an inmate. Callers will need a touch-tone telephone to
use the service.
Crime victims and the general public register
directly with VINE by calling 1-877-315-VINE or by registering
online at
www.vinelink.com. The caller will be notified when the following
occur:
-
Release from custody for any reason
-
Escape
-
Return to custody after escape
-
Unsupervised custody
-
Transfer to another facility
-
Advance notification of release
Calls will be made every 30 minutes for 24
hours or until the correct PIN is entered to confirm and stop the
calls.
