Corrections Section
By law, the Sheriff is mandated to provide a safe and secure facility to house persons
committed to his custody by the Courts.
Sutter County's Main Jail facility is located at 1077 Civic Center Boulevard, Yuba City,
California. The facility has undergone several upgrades since originally
constructed in 1977. A major kitchen renovation, a 148 bed minimum facility, and a 62
bed felony dorm addition were added to the original design. A 52 bed maximum security
single-cell unit was completed in 1999. The inmates housed in the single cells are
considered high risk inmates.
Our jail facilities are staffed by over 90 full and part-time employees, and the
Support Services Division Commander oversees the diverse needs
of the inmate population. In addition to performing traditional custody functions, the Corrections Section
is charged with providing security as bailiff’s assigned to the Sutter County Consolidated Courts in both
criminal and family law cases.
Correctional officers also aid the other services provided by the department to the community by
becoming members of many of the specialized units of the department such as the dive team,
swift water rescue team, and honor guard,
